Happy to finally display my first new piece since I had to take a hiatus. To open up a bit without getting into details (I am not ready to publicly do that yet), at the end of April I was in a very serious accident. It put me in the hospital for a month and it is something I have to continue to deal with. I am extremely lucky to be alive, thanks to my boyfriend and his brother. I strive to get to the point where I feel comfortable opening up about it on here, because I do hope it will greatly inspire others.
With that being said, this piece is very important to me, because it is the first thing I successfully shot and felt happy with, creatively wise, since the accident. Once I started shooting again after the accident I found myself in a big creative rut. I shot 5 shoots leading up to this photograph and I hated them all; I was trying to produce something at the time that definitely felt unnatural, in the sense of emotion, feel, intensity, composition, and so on. So I said, “Fuck that” and stopped thinking so hard, because personally I hate producing work when it feels forced, so I just let things fall into place naturally.
